Tour de France Diary, Stage 9.

Apocalyptic, menacing, adverse, challenging….these are some adjectives used to describe the weather on the road to yesterday’s mountaintop finish at Andorra Arcalis.

A select group of saturated GC contenders rode over the line together, some six minutes behind Dutchman Tom Dumoulin.

The Wattmeister asks…have those weather watchers never heard about the horrendous conditions endured on the Beast from the East 600 kms audax in May 2007?


Today has been a rest day both in the Tour and in Wattmeisterland. Whilst team mechanics have been prepping bikes for Stage 10, our hero has been doing his laundry in the Wattmobile’s tiny sink. It turned out to be a good idea to only pack three pairs of underpants.
